Lucidiette

An ever-expanding D&D 5e worldbuilding project.

A world of Dreams

Lucidiette is the D&D campaign I’ve been running for the past four years, spanning two groups and continuing steadily with a new cast of colorful PCs.

Set on the small world of Croft, Lucidiette weaves a tapestry of Baroque and Dark Age influences. Remnants of towering gothic cathedrals, wheel-lock firearms, dancing blades, and lucid dream magic paint a portrait of a beautiful, crumbling world.

It’s cosmic horror dark fantasy, through and through.

I’ve curated all of the worldbuilding content into numerous World Anvil articles. Below are some notable examples, but feel free to explore the wiki as you please.

Notable Articles

World Map

Croft is a small, dark, fleeting world made beautiful by the dreams of the people who call it home. The temperate river valley of Basal sings with the sounds of music from the Fluteweald. In the far north, Durram offers solitude and introspection in the shadow of cold mountains. The endless sands of Caith are for the seasoned wayfarer who stays in no place for long. And the sunswept isle of Gotha is for the curious, the wise, and the brave.

The Mordiche

A lineage of Gothean humans who have settled in the remnants of old Edessa. They have co-opted the ruins of their forebears as the foundation of their own civilization and developed a uncommon architectural style.

The Lucidiette Mass

The Lucidiette Mass is a theocratic body made up of Lucid Dreamers who rule over the kingdom of Leofric. Considered benefactors by most, the Mass uses their limitless imaginations to manifest anything they wish into reality.

Sycros

The ruins of the fort-city Sycros lie nestled between the mountainous cliffsides of old Edessa and has emerged as the center of archeological enterprise on the Gothan continent.

Heritage

Cosmic metamorphosis. The anabolism of living beings into a signular, greater conciousness. Those who eclipse the Waking World for an everlasting place in the Peripheral Cosmos.

Arcane Research

Arcane Research is an optional alternative to D&D 5e Wizard levelling. Forgo the gain of 2x Spells per Wizard level to instead engage in Arcane Research.

Session Documentation

Lucidiette is a big game with many moving parts. While the PCs explore, multiple events may be unfolding in the background. I call these narrative threads “whispers,” and I’ve developed a session planning style inspired by professional quest documentation to manage them effectively. I’ve curated some notable examples of this documentation.
