Lords of Norn

Lords of Norn (LoN) is a dark fantasy, rogue-lite, boss rush that follows a group of three exiled Lords who must ascend the Astral Spire to kill the mad king who stripped them of their privilege.

You play as former Lords exiled to the dungeon of the Astral Spire; stripped of your worth, your privilege, and your humanity. You must ascend the Astral Spire, a citadel constructed in worship of the Star Fall, in pursuit of the mad King Yric of Norn. After accepting the gift of Mana from the Star Fall, a corruption began to take root in the King and spread to all those close to him. This “Manablight” granted those infected with otherworldly powers but transformed them into horrific abominations. Those who did not “ascend” were exiled to the bottom of the spire; unfit for their former privilege. King Yric stationed his creatures on the five floors of his spire to guard him from the exiles for eternity.

You have been touched by a hint of Manablight; granting you a taste of the power given by ascension. With these powers, you will ascend the spire, slay the Mad King, and reclaim the privilege of lordship.

LoN explores the theme of privilege by telling the story of people who once had everything lose it all because of forces out of their control; much like experiences everyday people have had in the real world. The “Manablight” symbolizes unfortunate twists of fate in life while the corruption of King Yric and his Lords symbolize how people with the privilege of power can use others’ misfortune for their own selfish gain. The act of ascending the tower to defeat King Yric symbolizes the resolve and intent of those who wish to fight back against injustices brought about by circumstance.

EXPLORATIONS

A few years ago I started to explore how I could use Unity and the Unreal Engine. These 2D animations were imported into Unreal Engine so I could start to build a 2D/3D platformer. Work is still in progress.

PAINTED FIGURES

One of my deep passions and favorite pastimes is to paint mini-figures for my D&D campaigns. Some of these examples are not just from my campaigns but just for the joy of painting at such high detail.
